Scholarship Giving:
Levels of Commitment and Lasting Impact

Your scholarship gift can support students in powerful ways, with three levels of commitment—annual, funded, and endowed—each offering a different balance of flexibility, duration, and legacy. You can choose the option that best aligns with your goals, whether making an immediate impact, providing support over several years, or creating a permanent source of opportunity.

Selection Criteria

When establishing a scholarship, you have the opportunity to define clear selection criteria that reflect your philanthropic goals. Donors may choose the scholarship name, the number of students to be awarded each year, and the dollar amount of the award (dependent on funding limits). In addition, donors may specify the eligibility criteria students must meet to qualify, such as field of study, academic achievement, financial need, or residency. All criteria are reviewed to ensure alignment with Indian River State College policies and regulatory guidelines while honoring the donor’s intent and supporting student success.

Donor Acknowledgment

Each year, you will receive a personal note from your scholarship recipient, offering a glimpse into the student you are supporting and the difference your generosity is making in their life. When schedules allow, many donors also enjoy the opportunity to meet their recipients in person. These moments of connection—sharing stories, encouragement, and gratitude—often become the most meaningful part of the scholarship experience, allowing you to see firsthand how your support helps students pursue their education and future goals.
