Fielden Institute for Lifelong Learning

Indian River State College

The Fielden Institute for Lifelong Learning at Indian River State College invites curious minds to continue their educational journey in a vibrant, welcoming community. Designed for adults who love learning for its own sake, the Institute offers a rich variety of peer-led and peer-directed programs that encourage intellectual exploration, creativity, and meaningful connection without the pressure of grades, tests, or academic requirements.

At the heart of the Fielden Institute is the belief that learning is a lifelong pursuit best shared with others. Participants join a community of enthusiastic learners who bring their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to the classroom. Courses, workshops, and lectures are facilitated by peers and experts who are passionate about their subjects, creating an engaging, collaborative environment where discussion and discovery thrive.

The Institute’s diverse offerings include short courses, multi-session classes, hands-on workshops, discussion groups, and stimulating lectures. Topics span a wide range of interests, such as history, science, literature, languages, current events, philosophy, arts and culture, health and wellness, and more. Whether you want to dive deeply into a favorite subject or sample something entirely new, the Fielden Institute provides opportunities to broaden horizons and spark curiosity.

In addition to classroom learning, the program features opportunities for exciting educational travel tours that extend learning beyond campus walls. These thoughtfully planned experiences combine exploration, cultural enrichment, and social connection, allowing participants to learn together while discovering new places and perspectives.

Programs are offered across five convenient locations—Vero Beach, Okeechobee, Fort Pierce, Stuart, and Port St. Lucie—making lifelong learning accessible throughout the region. Each location fosters a friendly, inclusive atmosphere where participants quickly feel at home and connected to fellow learners who share their enthusiasm.
