Benefits
Graduates of Indian River State College enjoy lifelong connection and engagement through the Indian River State College Alumni Association, administered by the Foundation. Alumni receive regular electronic newsletters with College news, event information, and networking opportunities. The Association maintains an alumni database to support career connections, community engagement, and social events. Alumni enjoy life time access to the IRSC Career center. Alumni also have opportunities to participate in traditions like IRSC-themed gatherings and support initiatives such as commemorative bricks on Alumni Row. Beyond community and networking benefits, alumni engagement strengthens the broader River Family and supports current students through philanthropy and advocacy.

Distinguished Alumni
Indian River State College honors outstanding graduates through its Distinguished Alumni Award, recognizing alumni whose achievements, leadership, and community service exemplify the values of the College and serve as role models for current students and the broader community. Past recipients have included community leaders such as Linda Hudson, former Mayor of Fort Pierce, who was celebrated for her civic leadership and professional accomplishments after graduating from Indian River Junior College in 1964.
In addition to formal alumni awards, IRSC’s broader alumni community includes notable graduates who have excelled in athletics, public service, and professional fields. Alumni such as MLB players, Olympians, and accomplished professionals reflect the enduring impact of an IRSC education and inspire current students to pursue excellence.
Through the Indian River State College Alumni Association, the Foundation encourages and supports recognition of distinguished alumni achievements, fostering lifelong connection, pride, and engagement that strengthen the River Family across generations.
Alumni Giving
Alumni of Indian River State College play a vital role in shaping the future of the College and the students who follow in their footsteps. Through the Indian River State College Foundation, alumni may support IRSC in ways that align with their passions and experiences. Gifts may be directed to student scholarships, the Promise Program, campus emergency funds, technology access, student wellness and mental health services, veterans and military family support, or academic and workforce programs. Alumni can also support student life, athletics, alumni engagement initiatives, and legacy giving opportunities that ensure long-term impact.
Whether through a one-time gift, monthly giving, a planned gift or establishing an endowment your gift will help to shape the future of our college and our community. Alumni generosity strengthens access, persistence, and completion for today’s students. Giving back is a powerful way for alumni to honor their own journey, invest in future generations, and remain connected to the River Family for life.
Something New
The Alumni Panel at New Student Orientation
In August, the Indian River State College Alumni Association hosted an Alumni Panel during New Student Orientation at the McAlpin Performing Arts Center, welcoming both incoming students and their parents. The event featured a group of proud River alumni who shared their personal stories, college experiences, and career journeys, offering inspiration and encouragement to the newest members of our College family. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to see firsthand the lasting impact of an Indian River State College education and to begin their own journeys knowing they’re supported by a strong and engaged alumni community.

‘Tis the Season
The spirit of the season was alive and well at Indian River State College as more than 75 alumni and their families gathered for our annual ’Tis the Season celebration on Saturday, December 6.
The afternoon began at the Hallstrom Planetarium with a special presentation of Ornaments in the Sky. Guests of all ages were captivated as dazzling celestial imagery and holiday-themed visuals filled the dome, creating a magical start to the festivities.
Following the show, alumni enjoyed a festive holiday reception filled with delicious seasonal fare, warm conversation, and plenty of River pride. A curated wine-tasting experience added a special touch to the celebration, giving guests the opportunity to sip, savor, and reconnect with classmates and friends.
The event concluded with Sounds of the Season, a joyful musical concert that perfectly captured the warmth and wonder of the holidays. Laughter, music, and meaningful connections echoed throughout the afternoon, reminding us that staying connected to Indian River State College means you are always part of the River family.

Alumni Association Sponsors Holidays for Heroes, Expands Impact Through Community Partnership
The Indian River State College Alumni Association proudly sponsored this year’s Holidays for Heroes initiative, continuing a heartfelt tradition of honoring and supporting our military service members during the holiday season.
Each year, alumni and friends of the College come together to pack care packages filled with thoughtful items—snacks, candy, books, games, stationery, and other small comforts from home—to remind service members that they are remembered and appreciated, especially while stationed far from their families.
This year, the Alumni Association was honored to partner with the St. Lucie River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Through this meaningful collaboration, the initiative expanded its reach and impact. Together, we increased the number of care packages sent to 20 boxes, ensuring that even more service members would feel the warmth and gratitude of the River community.
Thanks to generous donations from supporters, we were also able to fully cover the cost of shipping—allowing every contribution to go directly toward the contents of the care packages themselves.
Holidays for Heroes reflects the very best of Indian River State College: service, partnership, and community spirit. The Alumni Association is proud to stand alongside the DAR and our campus family in extending appreciation to those who serve our country.
